Ways to reach 90%

12 of the 45 two-rating pairs from 10% to 90% combine to 90%: 90% and 40% (94), 90% and 30% (93), 90% and 20% (92), 90% and 10% (91), 80% and 70% (94), 80% and 60% (92), 80% and 50% (90), 80% and 40% (88), 80% and 30% (86), 70% and 70% (91) and others in the combined ratings table.

A single condition can also be rated 90%: on this site, Hip replacement (DC 5054) have a 90% level.

38 CFR 4.71a, diagnostic code 5054, Hip replacement, at 90%: “Following implantation of the prosthesis, with painful motion or weakness such as to require the use of crutches.”

One disability rated 90% meets the single-disability threshold of 60% in 38 CFR 4.16(a) for a total rating based on unemployability; a combined 90% from several disabilities meets it when one of them is at least 40%. The TDIU guide explains the rest of the test.
