Ways to reach 60%

5 of the 45 two-rating pairs from 10% to 90% combine to 60%: 60% and 10% (64), 50% and 20% (60), 50% and 10% (55), 40% and 40% (64), 40% and 30% (58).

A single condition can also be rated 60%: on this site, Meniere's disease (DC 6205), Shoulder replacement (DC 5051), Knee replacement (DC 5055), Intervertebral disc syndrome (IVDS) (DC 5243), Sciatic nerve (radiculopathy) (DC 8520), Epilepsy (seizures) (DC 8910), Asthma (DC 6602), COPD (DC 6604) and 6 more have a 60% level. For Intervertebral disc syndrome (IVDS), Hypertension (high blood pressure), Eczema (dermatitis), Prostate conditions (voiding dysfunction), 60% is the highest level the schedule offers.

38 CFR 4.97, diagnostic code 6602, Asthma, at 60%: “FEV-1 of 40 to 55 percent predicted, or FEV-1/FVC of 40 to 55 percent, or at least monthly visits to a physician for care of exacerbations, or intermittent (at least three per year) courses of systemic corticosteroids.”

38 CFR 4.97, diagnostic code 6604, COPD, at 60%: “FEV-1 of 40 to 55 percent predicted, or FEV-1/FVC of 40 to 55 percent, or DLCO (SB) of 40 to 55 percent predicted, or maximum oxygen consumption of 15 to 20 ml/kg/min with cardiorespiratory limit.”

38 CFR 4.104, diagnostic code 7101, Hypertension (high blood pressure), at 60%: “Diastolic pressure predominantly 130 or more.”

One disability rated 60% meets the single-disability threshold of 60% in 38 CFR 4.16(a) for a total rating based on unemployability; a combined 60% from several disabilities meets it when one of them is at least 40% and the combined rating reaches 70%. The TDIU guide explains the rest of the test.
